Study West African Biodiversity and Economic Development with Arcadia

The Arcadia University Center for Education Abroad, in conjunction with the Universidad Nacional de Guinea Ecuatorial (UNGE), presents an exciting and challenging study abroad program in Equatorial Guinea on the island of Bioko. This undergraduate program offers a unique opportunity to:

  • study tropical biodiversity and wildlife conservation
  • explore the linguistic and cultural diversity of Equatorial Guinea
  • investigate the challenges of sustainable development and conservation in the African context through field research.

This program gives students the opportunity to learn about the challenges of sustainable development and conservation in the African context. Through intensive academic coursework and extensive field study, the program aims to cultivate an appreciation for tropical ecosystems and their preservation as part of the development and economic growth of this small, West African country. The program also provides students with a framework for analyzing the global and local roles of the English language in the context of economic development and interacting closely with local university students. Throughout the program, students learn from faculty who are specialists focusing on endangered primates and the economic parameters of their conservation. They also learn about West African history, literature and culture.
